Bloodborne Pathogen and Needlestick Prevention online

Introduction

The following instructions are for accessing the UIC/EHSO on-line training modules:

Bloodborne Pathogens and Needlestick Prevention is required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for all researchers, students, faculty and staff working in laboratories with potentially infectious materials. This training must be completed annually.

Time Commitment

The course will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. If you cannot complete the course in one session, you may log in at a later time using the same user name and continue from where you left off.

Rules

  • A score of 80% is required for passing.
  • A passing score is required to fulfill the training requirement.
  • Should a user fail the exam, the exam may be taken more than once.

Getting Started

Complete the following steps to register for and access the Online training course.

1. Go to http://www.uictraining.org

        2. Use the following table:

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY ENROLLED, DO NOT ENROLL AGAIN. PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

Registration records were not transferred from previous training site. You are considered "New User" if you have not

previously registered at OVCR site. 

                                                       

                                         

3. Select Course Catalog from the menu on the left.

4. Check mark "Environmental Health and Safety" and click on Browse Selected Categories.

5. Click on "Bloodborne Pathogens and Needlestick"course.

6. Click on the Enroll.

7. Click on My Courses .

8. Click on Launch Course and complete the course.

9. Click on Quiz, complete quiz and click on Submit Answers.

10. Exam will be scored and result will be provided. For failed exams, please review respiratory Training outline and click on Retake exam.

11. Once exam is successfully completed with a passing score, the system will indicate that the course has been completed.

12. An email will be sent to user regarding training certificate.


Verification of Training 

Following successful completion of the course/test, the UIC Training Learning Management System (LMS) will generate an automatic email to the user indicating which course/test has been completed and providing information as to accessing and printing the certificate for completed course/test.
