Radioactive Shipping Awareness Training


The following instructions are for accessing the UIC/EHSO on-line training.

Radioactive Shipping General Awareness Training is designed to enabled workers to meet the requirements for training of the Department of Transportation (DOT), specified by 49 CFR 172 and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for those who offer, transport and receive radioactive materials.

Time Commitment

The course will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. If you cannot complete the course in one session, you may log in at a later time using the same user name and continue with course.


  • A score of 70% is required for passing.
  • Should a user fail the exam the exam may be taken more than once.
  • Please DO NOT attempt to take the quiz without first viewing the entire contents of the course.

Getting Started

Complete the following steps to register for and access the Online training course.

  4. Select Course Catalog from the menu on the left.
  5. Check mark "Environmental Health and Safety" and click on Browse Selected Categories.
  6. Click on "Radioactive Shipping General Awareness Training" course.
  7. Click on the Enroll.
  8. Click on My Courses .
  9. Click on Launch Course and complete the course.

  10. When course is completed, return to My Courses, and click on Quiz, when complete click on Submit Answers.
  11. Quiz will be scored and result will be provided. For failed quiz, please go back to My Courses page and re-launch training, review training material and click on Retake Quiz.
  12. Once quiz is successfully completed with a passing score, the system will indicate that the course has been completed and an email will be sent regarding training certificate.


Verification of Training 

Following successful completion of the course/quiz, the UIC Training Learning Management System (LMS) will generate an automatic email to the user indicating which course/quiz has been completed and provide information on accessing and printing the certificate for completed course/quiz.
